Galata Tower & Rooftops
The medieval tower rises over the rooftops of Beyoğlu, and the surrounding terraces give you the tower and the old-city skyline in one frame. Sunrise is quietest; golden hour adds warm light on the stone. Some private rooftops charge a small access fee, which we arrange in advance.
Balat
Balat's stepped lanes of painted houses and tangled vines are Istanbul's most colorful backdrop. Mornings are calm before the cafés fill; midday brings strong contrast and crowds. It is a working neighborhood, so we shoot respectfully around residents and shopfronts.
Sultanahmet
The historic peninsula puts the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and Topkapı within a short walk. Sunrise gives you near-empty squares and soft light on the domes. The area is busy and partly a mosque complex, so we time visits early and dress appropriately.
Bosphorus & Yacht
A private yacht session frames you against the Bosphorus bridges and the water between two continents. Late afternoon light is best, and the open deck means changing backdrops as you cruise. We arrange the boat as part of the package.
Ortaköy
Ortaköy frames you with its baroque waterfront mosque and the Bosphorus Bridge rising right behind it, one of Istanbul's most recognizable backdrops. The square is liveliest on weekends with cafés and market stalls; early morning is calmest and gives the softest light on the water. It pairs naturally with a Bosphorus session.
Grand Bazaar & Cafés
Lantern-lit passages, carpet shops, and traditional tea houses give warm, characterful interiors for lifestyle portraits. The Grand Bazaar is liveliest mid-morning; quieter side cafés work any time. We ask shopkeepers' permission before shooting inside.

Bring a few outfits in solid colors and fabrics that move. Flowing dresses and layers photograph beautifully against the city’s textures. Avoid large logos and busy patterns. We will suggest looks for your specific locations once we know your plan.
What is the best time of day for photos in Istanbul?
Sunrise and the golden hour before sunset give the softest light and the emptiest streets. Sunrise at Galata or Sultanahmet means landmarks almost to yourselves; late afternoon suits rooftops and the Bosphorus. We plan the timing around your locations when you book.
Which locations do you recommend for a first visit?
For a first visit we usually combine the classics: Sultanahmet and the Hagia Sophia, the Galata Tower, the colorful streets of Balat, and a Bosphorus or rooftop viewpoint. We tailor the route to your pace and the light, and can add hidden spots most visitors miss.
What happens if it rains?
We watch the forecast and stay flexible. If the weather turns, we will happily reschedule to another slot during your stay at no extra charge. (One of our reviewers changed their date for exactly this reason.) Istanbul also looks wonderful under soft, moody skies.
How far in advance should I book?
Popular morning slots and peak travel months fill up, so we recommend booking one to three weeks ahead. That said, last-minute and same-week sessions are often possible. Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you what is open for your dates.
